Hahah your play with symmetry is great. The last photo of the bananas cracked me up. My favorite shots though would have to be the two English themed tins precariously leaning up against each other. Not only do you have vertical symmetry going on, but you also have horizontal symmetry going on with the viewer also being able to see their reflection on the table.
The dramatic lighting in these photos is really nice. I like the 8th one - it makes me curious about the subject even though they are recognizable & everyday objects.
I really like the skeleton photo. The subject is like "can I help you?" Great way to position your subject! I think you did well playing with the lighting of your pictures and getting different effects, awesome stuff!
omg. The skeletons are amazing. The 6th photo feels like something straight out a movie. And the fifth photo has such a holy altar vibes that has a really open ended narrative. Amazing.
Ian, these were really solid photographs. I have some suggestions; in images like the shot with the banana, unfold the fabric so that it takes up all of the picture plane. In the images of the little phone booths, adjust your shooting angle so that you don't get the part of the dish drainer? in it. However I think your photos show a very clear representation of some of the compositional elements. The photo with the food, I wish there was a focal point on the food so that I get a really sharp rendering of the food's texture. Just small things to consider. Good job overall.
I love your 6th picture especially because of the isolating subject effect. Very interesting patterns, and cool compositions.
