An Vuong Week 6// Set Fire to the Rain by Adele

I hired a professional actor for this one.

Top 10:

I let it fall, my heart...

And as it fell you rose to claim it...

It was dark and I was over...

...and you saved me...

My hands, they're strong

But there's a side to you that I never knew, never knew...

And the games, you play you would always win, always win...

But I set F-I-R-E....

Sometimes I wake up by the door...

  2. I enjoyed seeing this tiny robot in your compositions. This little robot is a good subject for these pics, and these images fit nicley into the song you chose. I think you well-executed the elements described in class; however, I suggest that you maybe change some of the scenery/background, so that the subject complements the background.

  3. The compositions of your pictures were really well done. The last one was especially eye-catching because the scale of the door verses the size of the robot. Also, the quality of light in the picture with the flame worked really well, and the pattern in the fifth picture complements the shape of the robot arm.

  4. The playfulness of this shoot is really enjoyable. Also, the way that you challenge the scale of the robot in every photo is intriguing! Great use of contrast as well.

  5. The photo with the lighter lit is great because it allows for quality of light and the contrast between the light and the blackness is very strong.

  6. This is great, especially with the sequence of the lyrics and the character you chose! The contrast in img 1 is very effective and would work in your other compositions nicely.

  7. 10/10 great subject choice, not sure if it was intentional, but I would like to know more why you chose the robot as your subject to go with this song (unless it was by chance). The first photo has a great sense of movement and line which works well with your first lyric in the song.

  8. Overall some very nice photos. Common throughout all of them is reflective and crunchy quality of the aluminum foil on the robot. I really appreciate how well you isolated the robot in the last photo, and I think some simple editing could bring out the robot a little more, as currently theres a low contrast throughout the image.

  9. Great pattern in the fifth image. The contrast in the third picture is also very successful and I think it could’ve been brought out a bit more. Your photos also have a great use of leading lines and create movement throughout.

  10. omg lil cutie. That first one made my heart drop for him :-(. Your use of your lil friend I think was a smart choice as he’s very versatile in what compositions you can put him in to highlight the different formal elements. The photo with the lighter I think is the most successful. The reflection of the flame onto his body really highlights his materiality and gives him more texture and dimension than the other photos show. It was also an interesting approach if thinking about quality of light and how the light source itself is part of the image. Good work!

  11. aaaah this was so cute and creative i would've never though to use a robot figure to interpret set fire to the rain by adele lol. your first image is so powerful the blur of the horizontal background lines really reinforce the vertical fall of ur subject and make it seem as the robot is descending down layers. ur use of line and shadow this week was amazing great job !! 0:
