The texture on the cigarettes and the stop motion of the first shower picture work really well. I think you captured the song well, but I would suggest being more careful with exposure and editing, as those elements are very noticeable in some of your pictures, especially the burning in the shower pictures.
The texture of the ashes from the cigarettes captured in the first photo along with the stark white of the cigarette butts are probably my favorite things. I agree with Hannah that the editing is a bit obvious, but I'm proud of you for going into photoshop and using techniques that Kashif taught us!
I like the way you chose not to depict the shower in a nontraditional way, with a sense of depth. I think the blurring effect might be distracting to the sharp compositions, though.
The images of your subject (I'm guessing in the shower) are very successful. The contrast between the subject and the background as well as your ability to capture the water droplets make these photos stand out.
Great use of leading lines and pattern in your photos. The patterned wall was a great choice. The leading lines in the railing was also very successful.
The first photo of the cigarettes brings in some really well executed uses of contrast and texture. I can definitely feel the grime of the pot, and the bright and white cigarettes stand out strong against the dark atmosphere.
enjoyed the texture in the cig photos. The last photo has leading lines., but I wish the subject followed them and that they were in focus. Overall I loved the shower pics and think you did a great job.
Omg. That shower pics are amazing. I think that the 6th photo is the most successful. The way that her body is arched is really composed nicely! I also think that of all the shower photos with the little glowing effect going on, this one works. It feels more intentional and it seems like the water is just kind of creating a wrap around her (if that makes sense lol). I think the other shower photos don’t nexessarily need that glowing effect but that could be something easily cleaned up. I really enjoy how up close you got withthose cigarettes. I can imagine th feeling of all of those ashes and smell all that gunk.
i love that this photoset and i both have a mutual appreciation for karli. at least thats what i get when i connect the song to the narrative of ur photos. i love that glow you composed on ur model in the shower shots, rather than creating a deep sense of contrast i feel like u created this literal energy to add to the overall optimistic feeling of the photos. great job !

ReplyDeleteThe glow-like effect in the shower photos is really intriguing. Additionally, your inclusion of patterns in this shoot is a nice touch.

ReplyDeleteThe wet hair and the cigarettes have so much texture. And the contrast in the shower pics turned out nicely. That glow effect is poppin!
