Jenna Agres Week 6 - Mr. Sandman

  1. Your use of shadow was a very clever way to capture the subject. The contrast between the white blinds versus the darkness of the shadow adds to the photo. I sort of wish the shadow was a little bit darker though? Either way, I think you did a great job incorporating the compositional elements into your shoot. The contrast between the rose and light colored balloons is stunning!

  2. The silhouette of the rose with the white balloon in the background works as contrast very well because of the distinct difference in values. The shadow image I think is very nice but it would really push it if the shadow was darker.

  3. The one with the rose and the shadows combined is so eye capturing. I think your use of incorporating the rose, the background, like the shadows, really grab someone's attention. The contrast used in these pictures really were brought to my attention, and I enjoyed your over all use of compositional elements in your pieces.

  4. I feel the shadow of the man with the rose in your third image really catpure's the lyrics of this song and was a very strong image to include. It combines the kind of whimsical and shadowy attitudes associated with a dream while capturing this mystery man that the singer is asking the Sandman to bring them. Great work this week.

  5. Your use of lighting and the resulting shadows make these photos very dreamlike and this series emulates your song choice very well!

  6. Your use of shadow, contrast, and pattern works really well with the subject matter. The third picture is really captivating because of the use of shadow. Great job!!

  7. Great use of light in your photos. The shadows that were created are very successful. The contrast is also executed very well.

  8. I can appreciate the simplicity of these photos, as it brings out the strong contrast between both value in form, e.g. the rose and the balloon. Additionally, the use of pattern work very well.

  9. You use of shadow was very effective. The contrast between the rose and white back-round was well done. I can hear the song as I look at these photos.

  10. I think that most of these photos are successful. While your 6th photo seemed to be focused on isolating the subject, I think that your 7th photo could have been a really interesting approach to that element by inverting the colors that would be expected (the white being the background and the shadow being the subject).

  11. love ur images of the roses. my favorite is the silhouette, i love the contrast and dainty use of light (for some reason that little see through petal really does it for me). i also love how flourescent the balloons look in certain pictures
