SIERRRRAAAAAAA THIS BEAT IS... SPICY

Reflecting my personal triumphs and failures in the kitchen, this Florida story follows the teachings of Mario Tortellini, a chef dedicated to teaching college students how to cook like a real pro. The shots will be a step by step starting with cleaning dishes to actually making the food. I'm hoping to present the story in a cookbook fashion as well. Will employ the use of meme's and student culture to appeal to the college student.

My name is Mario Tortellino, my mission: to take your drab college life and turn it into a culinary masterpiece. Let's get started

Are you a starving college student in need of some of mom's cooking? Look no further blah blah

First clean the accumulation of dishes that is leading to that disgustinggggg smell

Kale? Never heard of her.

Reach into your pantry for some artisinal spi.... well that'll have to do

A clean dish? Shook.

You wish you had this lasagna

This bitch empty... YEET.

Seeds for our noodle tree

So, these photos are mainly inspiration for the final will bring sketchbook to further illustrate progression of events

An extra nudie just for you. REMEMBER TO LOVE YO SELFFFFFFF. Figuring it out for myself, but this is going into a final painting for another class. I'll keep you updated.

  1. The concept of your project is really interesting, and it's a good way to incorporate your humor with the pictures. The depth of field in the fifth picture works really well, and I wish there were more shots similar to it. The blur motion in the ninth picture works well, and I think many of your shots could benefit from more direct lighting, especially the tenth image.

  2. You always come up with such interesting topic/subjects. It is nice to see you incorporate text into the photos, and the blured motion was a nice touch as well.

  3. Sierra, I approve your concept. Your first image excites my, I enjoy the performance and drama in it, however that momentum didn't carry all the way through each image. I have some suggestions I will discuss with you in class on Friday.

  4. Your cover photo for the cookbook is HI-LARIOUS. I'm a big fan of the composition for the shot for your seasoning. I like that you used the plain white cabinets to your advantage to not only isolate your subjects but to also push your concept that college kids are seriously shit at cooking. Can't wait to see the final product!!!

  5. This is a great concept, the story progresses well and your title page is a great image. I would experiment with various light sources when shooting in the dorm and kitchen, some photos could use more lighter values. Other than that, great work!

  6. Im digging the concept and its relatable so it works! Im really drawn to the isolation one because it also contains contrast and it works. I also appreciate the flowing of macaroni and being able to see that movement.

  7. hhahaha how does your mind even come up with this stuff. You kill me. I think you could use better lighting in your kitchen to really portray that advertisement feel, to even further it's satire. also that body is bannnggginnnnnnn.

  8. Great narrative and great variety of composition elements used. The first couple photos benefit strongly from the added text and it's impressive that you managed to obtain those compositions where the figure and text stand out so easily from the usually busy background that nature forms.

  9. more tortelinininini please !!!! I wish there would have been more of your character in these images. He'd be super fun and Guy Fieri needs a new friend. When you do your final finals, he best better be in them banging out some bougie 99 cent ramen. You might could even play with the idea that this is an actual cookbook and disguise the narrative as if you're planning a dinner party and you're sharing your recipes with us unworthy kiddos. (would also be funny if you included random recipes for shitty things too like how to boil ramen lol).

  10. ooo i love that you are incorporating memes into ur final i am already imagining the endless possibilities, like ice soup. i think your cover photos are also well done (i prefer the 2nd one) as they lead me back to mario (the shadows near the corners, the text and waterfall movement). i also think you should add and incorporate mario as a visual subject more often, i think he should be included in more, and even most, of your photos to help create that visually playful narrative your captions depict. otherwise im excited to see how this all turns out! also s/o to you for body posi nude portrait!!
