Karli Lynn Week 13

  1. The variety of shots in these pictures works really well! The pattern in the ninth picture is successful, and I would push the lighting in your pictures in order to get more contrast. Also, be careful with your ISO settings because many of the pics are noisy (better lighting would help).

  2. Karli, interesting images this week. Your images are incredibly grainy, I would be more aware of your shooting settings and if you were shooting indoors you in low light you should use a tripod. I would try more complex configurations and compositions of your subjects.

  3. Liking the oranges, the oranges in the 9th image are an interesting composition and layout. I think you should watch your ios and settings though, cause the shots are a little grainy, but overall nice !!

  4. I really enjoyed your pattern within the ninth photo and the texture/ juiciness of the fruit in the second photo. I'm not sure if you already did it, but I think the fruit's texture could be pushed even further with the dodge and burn tool.

  5. I think it's great that you managed to make a series about oranges not boring at all. The words that you chose to write on the oranges are interesting as well, I would continue experimenting with that because it adds something to the photos. Great work!

  6. You know what, this was a really creative way to dissect and comment on Floridian ideals. At first I wasn't sure what the orange peels were in the shape of but then I saw it was Florida! And I thought that was a really interesting way to represent the sunshine state. I would continue to work with your model and their role in the pictures. As well I would think of lighting and contrast, those oranges can be MUCH juicier. Good work

  7. The second to last photo employs good use of pattern. Youb also did a great job of configuring the peels into the shape of FL. I think more light would bring forward that really oily and interesting clementine skin texture and enhance your pics!

  8. For me, your 7th photo is one of the most successful images of these. Something about her smile and the way that the orange disrupts/forces her to smile feels very irreverent and just out of touch with reality (good). It almost feels like an alien came down to florida and was like "me floridian too, me smile oranges :-)" which is great. It's also a nice juxtaposition between your more deliberate and more detailed compositions. I think that you should really push the types of compositions you can create by transforming the orange into more interesting forms rather than just photographing them (like in 6 and 8).

  9. the images that were the most powerful to me were the ones that had distinct compositional elements like your 4th and 7th (contrast), 8th (soft texture) and 9th (imposed quality of light). also i would be wear of the clarity tool in your last photo as it is apparent it was used (certain tangerines are foggy while others arent).

  10. Great job isolating the subject this week. The texture is the fruit is also very well captured. I really like the idea of creating the Florida shape out of the fruit.
