Karli Lynn- Week 12

  1. I like how some of the images aren't immediately evident the models are in the pool. Imgs 1, 2, 3, and 10 create a fluid space (because of the water texture) but no other indication of a swimming pool. Also, it would be interesting if you were able to capture more of the distortion the water creates on the model's body when it hits below the water.

  2. Karli, these are great shots! Really well exposed, good compositions all-round, and solid concept. Images 2,3 and 5 are your strongest. Image 3 excites me the most because the attempt at symmetry is evident and is very successful! The smiling models, the compliment of their skin tones, all work! Even in image 2, the white pops on her nails are lovely and the composition itself, isolating the subject in that position is really successful! I think you have an eye for what looks nice, because all of your images are attractive, I challenge you to push this to the next level by trying unusual angles, and environments and facial expressions and model poses!
    Good job.

  3. I like the exposure in these images, great contrast and nice use of symmetry. I especially like the second and third image because of the depth and symmetry. Your use of capturing these images in a pleasing way is great, and how you incorporated compositional elements.

  4. These photos display a mix of landscape and horizontal orientations. I think you really understood your composition and knew how to frame your shot and pose your model according to what orientation you were utilizing. Great job!

  5. Great use of symmetry in your photos. I also think the contrast of their black bathing suits with the light background is very strong.

  6. Your 3rd and 4th photos work well in the ideas of symmetry and assymetry. The pictures of the model in the pool are interesting as there are barely any ripples so it almost seems like the model is floating or just in an interesting expanse of space. Good work.

  7. the posing works really well in your pictures! The variance of skin tone in the third picture is really pleasing. I think it would be cool to incorporate some more of the highlights off the water, but really good overall!

  8. Image 2 and 3 were the strongest to me. The pop of white from the model's nails contrast nicely with her skin and the cropping was well done. I like that you isolated the subject so that her location (inside the pool) isn't the first and most apparent thing that gets recognized. Image 3 was very tastefully done with symmetry and asymmetry. Overall, nice job this week!

  9. your 1st, 3rd, 7th/8th photos are my favorite! all your photos (including the ones from last week) are very well exposed! the glassiness of the water makes for a charming background in your first photo while also somehow retaining the physicality of your subject as if they were out of water. u definitely sorta bent physics there. also i really love the framing of your 7th photo as compared to your 8th, i think the model benefits from the slight airiness of the background, however the pose in your 8th is more provocative. i loved your photos this week karli great job !

  10. That 2nd photo is everything ! really interesting in how you were able to isolate her in the water like that effectively with the water only being visible slightly around her arm. There's a slight ethereal and fantastical mood in that photo that I wish was present in your other photos as if the water was transporting them into some underwater infinite space and they were exploring it. awesome work!

  11. The use of the pool allows for the subjects to stand out with ease against the background, though this falls through in the middle photos somewhat when the faces are close to the complicated forms of the shrubbery.
