Aimee Freeman Week 13: "The Bloody Bucket Bridge"

  1. The story works really well in your pictures! The framing and posing works really well in the third picture. I just wish that there was more variety of pictures and more compositional elements used. You could really play with the compositions in these type of shots

  2. The story line is nice to see in these pictures, and I think the posing ties nicley as well in your composition, however, i think the background distracts me from your subject.

  3. Aimee, I think your pictures need more drama. the story that you gave about the history of the bridge doesn't come through in these images. where is the trauma? the horror? the chill, thrill? also you need to choose a different bridge that isn't surrounded by so much forest! they make your pictures super busy it all becomes a blur. We can work on this so that is the good news!

  4. Time to buy some blood or syrup or whatevaaaa. I think this is a good start, but I agree with Kashif, there needs to be a little more spice to these images. I would say buying some of those fake blood capsules or stuff like that and adding it to your images especially like the 3rd and 4th where it could be spewing out of the models mouth or like a single blood tear out her eye. Get freaky with it

  5. Your story was pretty clear to me so well done! The model's expressions are on point, but the busyness of these compositions takes my attention away from her and all the drama. I agree with Kashif that a different bridge needs to be used.

  6. Although the light and texture from the trees is distracting at times, I think the most successful image is the 5th one because of the direct, harsh light on the subject's face. In terms of your narrative, lighting will be important to communicate the eeriness of the story.

  7. Im really drawn to the 3rd image because of the model's expression and I think the interesting position she's in really differentiates from the rest. Maybe having a different scenery or something that sets them a part would be interesting.

  8. Ok so i think this is a good start but you could do so much to take it to the nexy level. Add blood, take me to the scene of the crime. shoot different angles! m thinking about an american horror story like vibe and Im exxcited to see where you take it!

  9. The expressions of the model is helpful in establishing the mood of this narrative.
Perhaps using a more "old-fashioned" looking bucket could be helpful in contributing to the visual aesthetic. Working with lighting and depth of field in future photos could help reduce the visual noise in the background.

  10. I don't know if it fits in line with the urban legend of the bloody bucket, but I think it would be epic to have a Carrie moment and just soak your model with fake blood. Get gross with it ! Also your lighting doesn't match up with your vibe that I think you're trying to go for. These feel just like normal photographs with her just happening to be on this bridge rather than a crafted scene as if it was a cinematic moment. You could fix that in post by darkening the environment to make it more eerie or you might even experiment shooting at night to really make it eerie.

  11. I agree with john in that you should include more distinguishable elements of the urban legend, dont be afraid to get a little gory. even if you didnt want to get gory, i think a shadowy/dark lighting with a hollow light source (flashlight?) would help present themselves more as an urban legend.
