In many of these shots, your model ended up competing with the product. I paid more attention to Jenna than the watch (an example would be your 8th photo). My favorite shots though were the first and last one. The first because there are very nice lines created by the buildings in the background and arm and my attention is really focused on the watch. The last one has really well done product placement and use of reflection.
I enjoyed how you laid out your photos, but I agree that I payed more attention to your model then the actual watch. I enjoy seeing some of the compositional elements in these photos.
The photos are wonderful in their ability to look like high-end watch ads. The first, 5th, and 10th photo do a great job a making me want to buy the watch with the use of lighting and angles in your compositions. I think in the 9th photo the use of the dodge and burn tool (if used) was a little too heavy on the face. Other than that, great work!
Following off of An and Marci, the watch doesn't have the power that an advertisement should have. Our eyes should go straight to the watch but instead it feels as if we're looking at image that happens to have a watch rather than image focused on the watch (especially in the 8th photo where her arm without the watch draws more attention than the arm with the watch. There are some really great shots though, especially the 6th photo. Really captured the bougie tood associated with brand name watches.
I can tell you experimented with different angles and poses & it works well in your images. Also, the composition in the first photo is really intriguing.
The first photo has interesting contrast, but I wish there had been more light shed on the watch. These photos are all very interesting and have great light and dark points, and I can tell you took them in different lighting
I really like how image 10 came out compositionally! It proves the item you're selling doesn't necessarily have to be in the center of the ad. In a lot of the photos, the burning and dodging tools are used a little heavily, which kind of distracts from the watch.
I live for these. they remind me of an actual magazine shoot, especially the 6th photo which has this interesting perspective that works really well with the lighting and mood you have created.

ReplyDeleteThe compositions of the first and sixth pictures are super dynamic and really show the watch well. The contrast in the seventh works really well too

ReplyDeleteI like the different poses and angles you used for the model. I think some close up shots of the watch would have been helpful.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the composition of the last photo, the lighting plays really well with the contrast
